Dr. Pilar Fernández Ibáñez

Pilar Fernandez-Ibañez is Lecturer at Ulster University. She has been Senior Researcher at Plataforma Solar de Almería of CIEMAT (Spain, 2003-2016) and head of the Solar Treatment of Water Unit.

Her research is focused on solar technologies for water purification, advanced oxidation processes for the removal of microbiological pathogens and hazardous chemical contaminants from water, solar reactors, and the application of solar technologies for drinking water in the field.

She has participated in 16 EU research projects in this area, and has 130 peer-reviewed scientific publications (H-index = 42).

She is Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Member of the Editorial Board of the Process Safety and Environmental Protection-Elsevier, and guest editor in a number of Special issues of several Elsevier journals, including Solar Energy, Applied Catalysis B, and Catalysis Today.

Pilar’s role in the WATERSPOUTT project is leader of work package 1 (Solar Rainwater Reactors) and will contribute to the activities relating to WP2 and 3 and dissemination of the project.
